By installing or using Focus Companion (the "extension"), you agree to these terms. The short version: this is a focus aid built by one person, it can be wrong, and it isn't a substitute for judgment, medical advice, or workplace monitoring software.

What this is, and isn't

Focus Companion is an AI-assisted focus aid. Its judgments about whether your current browsing matches a goal are advisory and can be inaccurate. It is not:

• A guarantee of productivity or behavior change
• A monitoring or surveillance tool for installing on someone else's device. It is meant to be used on your own device, for your own goals, with your own knowledge and consent
• A medical, mental-health, or clinical tool of any kind

Its AI-generated relevance judgments can be wrong in either direction: flagging work as drift, or missing real drift. Use your own judgment alongside it.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to bypass the extension's intended behavior
• Install it on a device belonging to someone who has not agreed to it

There is no server and no quota. Analysis runs on your own machine, so nothing you do with the extension costs us anything or is rate-limited by us.

What the extension needs to work

Goal-relevance analysis uses Chrome's built-in AI, which Chrome provides and we do not control. It needs a recent desktop Chrome with enough disk space and either supported graphics hardware or enough RAM and CPU capacity. Chrome downloads that model once, in the background, after you choose to download it.

If your browser or machine cannot run it, the extension tells you and will not start a session. It does not fall back to sending your pages to a server. Chrome may change the model, its behaviour or its requirements at any time, and that can change the quality of the judgments you see. Local behavior tracking and reporting continue to work either way.

Ordinary HTTP and HTTPS pages, including local development pages, are eligible for on-device analysis by default. You can exclude any site. Analysis remains unavailable in incognito and on browser-restricted or non-HTTP(S) pages. On eligible pages, visible text — including text displayed in editors and signed-in/private pages — is analyzed. Standard form-control values are excluded. Visible DOM text is included. All analysis happens on the device and nothing is sent to a server.

No warranty, limitation of liability

Focus Companion is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind, express or implied. This is a solo-developed project without a service-level agreement. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the extension, including missed deadlines, inaccurate relevance judgments, or service interruptions.

Age requirement

You must be at least 13 years old to use Focus Companion.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use after a change means you accept the update.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Vietnam, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
