Terms of Service

By installing or using Focus Companion (the "extension"), you agree to these terms. The short version: this is a focus aid built by one person, it can be wrong, and it isn't a substitute for judgment, medical advice, or workplace monitoring software.

What this is, and isn't

Focus Companion is an AI-assisted focus aid. It offers a best-effort, sometimes imperfect judgment about whether your current browsing matches a goal you wrote for yourself. It is not:

• A guarantee of productivity or behavior change
• A monitoring or surveillance tool for installing on someone else's device. It is meant to be used on your own device, for your own goals, with your own knowledge and consent
• A medical, mental-health, or clinical tool of any kind

Its AI-generated relevance judgments can be wrong in either direction: flagging work as drift, or missing real drift. Use your own judgment alongside it.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to bypass the extension's or the analysis gateway's intended behavior
• Automate, script, or otherwise abuse the AI-analysis endpoint outside of normal, single-device personal use

To keep the service usable and affordable for everyone, requests are rate-limited per device and in aggregate. Automated or excessive use may be throttled or blocked without notice.

Dependence on third-party AI providers

Goal-relevance analysis depends on third-party AI providers (currently DeepSeek, with OpenAI as a fallback) that we do not control. Availability, response quality, and latency can vary. For cost-control or reliability reasons, we may temporarily pause AI analysis or reduce quota limits. Local behavior tracking and reporting continue to work independently of this.

No warranty, limitation of liability

Focus Companion is provided "as is," without warranty of any kind, express or implied. This is a solo-developed project without a service-level agreement. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the extension, including missed deadlines, inaccurate relevance judgments, or service interruptions.

Age requirement

You must be at least 13 years old to use Focus Companion.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will update the date at the top of this page. Continued use after a change means you accept the update.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Vietnam, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
